Liability Insurance
Liability insurance is designed to protect against third-party claims that arise from alleged negligence resulting in bodily injury or property damage. Payment is not typically made to the insured but rather to someone suffering loss who is not a party to the insurance contract.
Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance offers basic liability coverage. CGL covers four types of injuries, including:
- bodily injury that results in actual physical damage or loss for individuals who are not employees;
- damage or loss to property not belonging to thebusiness;
- personal injury, including slander or damage to reputation; and
- advertising injury, including charges of negligence that result from promotion of goods or services
